Schools Direct (Salaried)

The Schools Direct Salaried route has replaced the GTP route for 2013/14.
The School Direct Training Programme (salaried), is an employment-based route into teaching for high-quality graduates with three or more years’ career experience.
The application process for our Holy Trinity, Somerset/Somerset SCITT 2013-14 programme is now closed. If you are interested in applying for 2014/15 the application process is likely to reopen again in October 2014.
There are currently places available for our Callington College, Cornwall/Somerset SCITT 2013-14 School Direct Training Programme (non-salaried). If you are interested in this programme you are advised to make an application urgently. Applications can be made online, please click here

Foundation Degree

Somerset Centre for Integrated Learning (SCIL) are now recruiting for Foundation Degree programmes in Somerset starting in September 2013.
Integrated Childrens Services, Teaching and Learning and Young People Services Foundation Degree programmes will be running across Taunton, Wells, West Somerset and Yeovil.
There will be an opportunity for progression onto a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Professional Practice.

Somerset SCITT is based in Taunton, Somerset and offers the following courses:
- Foundation degree in Teaching and Learning (T&L)
- Foundation degree in Intergrated Children’s Services (ICS)
- Foundation degree in Young Peoples Services (YPS)
SCITT also offer two routes to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), these are PGCE in either Early Years (ages 3–7) or Primary (5–11).
All students studying a Foundation Degree, BA or PGCE with Somerset SCITT are eligible to apply for various funding options, including student loans and grants through Student Finance England.
Somerset SCITT courses have the following entry requirements:
- Foundation Degree- Under 21, 4 x GCSE (A-C), 1 X A Level or Equivalent (A-C) Over 21 - Non standard entry route
- BA PP - Foundation Degree (240 Credits)
- PGCE - Full Degree, GCSE English, Maths and Science (A-C)
