Our programme includes a focus on the global dimension through a module with the title ‘Enhancing Learning Across the Curriculum: A Cross Curricular Approach.’
This module uses the global dimension to draw together different areas of the EYFS and Primary Curriculum and gives the course a distinctive and possibly unique focus.
The debate around teaching controversial issues is part of this module and input from, or visits to such organisations as the Department for International Development, The Red Cross, The Traveller Education Service, Forest School, The Somerset Earth Science Centre and the Carymoor Environmental Centre are used to enrich the taught sessions.
We believe that this is an important element to our course. It aims to help trainee teachers address some of the local to global issues that exist now for our children, and which will be particularly important in their futures as responsible citizens.
